The NJ Fish & Game Council Bad Bill is pulled

The New Jersey Outdoor Alliance and its affiliates are very pleased to announce that New Jersey Senate Bill S471 has been withdrawn from consideration by its Senate sponsors.

S471, along with matching Assembly Bill A2005, sought to alter the composition of the New Jersey Fish & Game Council by replacing three sportsmen representative council seats with three representatives from animal welfare organizations.

This withdrawal reflects the strength of a coordinated and aggressive advocacy effort by the NJOA–United Conservationists Foundation, Inc., working in close collaboration with aligned legislators, governmental institutions, statewide organizations, numerous conservation and sporting groups throughout New Jersey.

Organizations contributing to this successful effort include, but are not limited to:

  • The New Jersey State Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs
  • SCI Garden State Chapter
  • United Bowhunters of New Jersey
  • New Jersey Trappers Association
  • Numerous like-minded organizations, clubs, public media outlets and individual sportsmen and women throughout the State

All those involved should be commended for their commitment, engagement, and unified voice in protecting the integrity of the Fish & Game Council and New Jersey’s sporting heritage.
